Backhouse of Rossie, Wedding Photography

S + C’s wedding at Backhouse of Rossie in Fife was one of those days that just felt easy from the start.

Prep was at a nearby Airbnb in Lindores, which set the tone nicely — relaxed, plenty of space, and no real rush to anything. The kind of morning where everyone can just settle into it rather than feeling like the day’s already running away.

From there, everything moved over to Backhouse of Rossie for the ceremony in the walled garden. It’s a great spot — tucked away, full of character, and a bit different from the usual indoor setup.

There were a couple of showers through the day (standard for Scotland), but nothing that caused any issues. If anything, it just broke things up a bit — a quick regroup, then straight back out again.

The venue itself has a really nice barn feel to it. Loads of natural light, plenty of space, and it flows well without ever feeling too formal. It’s one of those venues that works just as well for the quieter moments as it does once things get going later on.

We kept things simple for portraits, just stepping out when the rain eased off for a few minutes. No big production, just a bit of space for S + C to take it all in before heading back in.

The rest of the day rolled straight into the evening — a busy dance floor, good energy, and everything you’d want to round things off properly.

Backhouse of Rossie is definitely one I’d like to get back to again. It’s got a bit of everything — great spaces, good light, and a relaxed feel that suits this kind of day perfectly.
