Lisa and Brent got married at the beautiful InterContinental Edinburgh (aka "The Principal" aka "The George Hotel" aka "I cant keep up with what this hotel is actually called anymore") last year and it was an absolute cracker of a day from beginning to end. I don't often photograph weddings in Edinburgh city centre, but when I do, I am always reminded of how brilliant a location it is for wedding photography and more than that, just how great a place Edinburgh is to have your wedding. Especially if you want the fun to extend long into the night :)
My day started by hanging out with the girls and photographing them getting ready in the hotels penthouse suite which shows off some stunning rooftop views of the city centre. It's also a photographers dream as it has loads of natural light coming in from all over the room. Good thing to keep in mind when you are planning those all important morning pictures. (Top tip - Don't get ready with lots of people in a very small and dimly lit room)
Then it was off to meet Brent and his best man to nab some pictures as the wedding guests arrived. Once the ceremony was complete, we then grabbed the chance to run outside into the streets of Edinburgh to have some fun and take lots of couples pictures before returning the guys to the rest of their day. Once again proving that you don't need to be away from your wedding guest for long t get lots of great pictures. Honestly why do I keep hearing of people going away for hours on end to miss their own wedding party ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As far as Edinburgh city wedding venues go, you would be hard pressed to beat The George Hotel. Established in 1881, it's full of amazing period design and Georgian architecture, which has been kept up to date with lots of modern touches and interior design. Plus that's even without mentioning the amazing ceremony/dinning room which boast the most beautiful hanging chandelier...thingy I have ever seen.
